Protect Our 2nd Amendment

Our Constitution is the bedrock of our freedom. The attack on the Second Amendment is not the only constitutional challenge of the day.

Second Amendment

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

As a child my father taught me to shoot when I was about six. My first gun was an air rifle. I remember the first time he let me shoot a shotgun (I thought I was old enough). It knocked my back onto the ground. I didn’t shoot it again until I was older, nor did I want to. I had learned my lesson. I learned to shoot a pistol when I was old enough to hold it steady. I was taught to respect guns at a very early age.

The high school I attended in Lakewood, Washington had an indoor shooting range. I was a member of the rifle team. While in high school my father bought me a Winchester Model 1894 lever-action rifle (known as a .30-30). I still have this rifle and it is as accurate today as it was when I was 16. My son knows how to handle a rifle as well as a pistol. My son-in-law now has a shotgun and has learned how to use it.

I am a life member of the NRA. We have a responsibility to teach our children to respect firearms and to use them correctly. Owning a firearm is a constitutional right that cannot be altered.
